RULES
The competitions are governed by:
- Competition Rules of sailing
- 2005/2008 ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing – Windsurfing Competition Rules (WRC)
- IFWC Class Rules& Championship rules
- “Race board Rules”
- “Fun board Rules”
- Windsurfing Latvian Cup 2005 regulations
with the option of additional regulations and changes that are to be written into the Instructios of Competition. Competition instructions will be posted on the official notice board of the competition and all instructions will be announced during the windsurfers’ meeting and not later than 30 min before the start of the next race.
START GROUPS
The competition will be organized and the participants will be evaluated in three separate groups with separate starts:
- Formula – in accordance with ISAF Sailing and FWR rules
Golden fleet
Silver fleet – all windsurfers who use surfboards without keel.
Last year’s top three racers from BuruSports Balva 2004 competition (Pumburi, Liepaja) in the Silver fleet are not allowed to apply in participation in this fleet this year. However, the last position holders from BuruSports Balva competition in 2002 in golden fleet are free to apply for participation in Silver fleet this year according to their preferences.
- Raceboard – in accordance with ISAF Sailing rules.
- Speed session – without any regalements, it s possible to go with any kind of windsurfing boards and sails.
- Slaloms – in accordance with Funbord rules. The competition will take place depending on the weather conditions.
GROUPS OF PARTICIPANT
A-male B-female
AGE GROUPS
Juniors (J) younger than 17 years of age
Youth (Y) younger than 20
Seniors (G) men of 40 or older
Grand seniors (GG) men of 50 or older
The minimum age limit of the participant must be not later than December 1, 2005.
EVALUATION
- Evaluation is according to Low point system.
- The competition is regarded as having taken place if at least one race has happened.
- One worst race result from a total of four races and two worst results from a total of seven races are dismissed.
AWARD GIVING
Formula – Golden, Silver and Raceboard groups – top three results.
Slalom – separate evaluation.
A group is considered to be formed, if at least five participants have raced.
AWARDS
Diplomas, presents from Thule and BURUSPORTS / BS STREET shops
Mercedes-Benz cup for the speediest racer in Formula Golden fleet and small Mercedes-Benz cup for the speediest Silver fleet racer in the total of two competitions in Pumpuri and Liepaja.
NUMBERS ON SAILS
Participants must have sail numbers according to IFCA WRC Rules. The numbers must be well visible and easily readable from both sides.
BIBS/VESTS & COMPETITORS SAIL BRANDING
During racing, competitors may be required by the organizers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors' branding. The use of the events lycra shirts is required during the competitions, as the sticker of the sponsors of the event over the boom.
